The Táin March was established in 2011 as a community walking festival to celebrate and promote the epic tale of the Cattle Raid of Cooley.
The March itself is the physical act of walking from Rathcroghan site (where Queen Medb began her quest for the Brown Bull of Cooley) and ends in Cooley in County Louth, on the June Bank Holiday. This takes place over three weekends and 12 walking days in total. Through fields, over mountains and wading through streams the marchers follow Queen Medb’s route in pursuit of the Brown Bull. At key towns and villages the local community organises events, receptions and parades to welcome the Marchers.
The March is due to hit Strokestown on 24th May 2019 and a series of events are being planned by Strokestown Town Team ... check the Strokestown Facebook page for updates!!

Westward Scania are pleased to announce the provision of a new cardiac defibrillator accessible at Westward Filling Station.
Joe Crann (from Westward Scania) said ".. When we looked at getting a defibrillator for our Scania workforce, we decided that it would be a nice gesture to have it accessible to members of the Strokestown community ... as there are security concerns with out-door defibrillators and more importantly many non-functioning ones out there, we have placed it indoors in the Westward Filling station shop ..."
Pictured at the handover of the new unit are members of Westward's Health & Safety Committee: Aidan Feeney, Gabriel Fleming, Stevie Lawson, Westward Filling Station, Anne Murphy & Joe Crann who are fully trained in CPR.
