A meeting of the Co. Roscommon Historical and Archaeological Society will take place at 8.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 13th March 2018, in the Percy French Hotel, Strokestown.
Following the meeting, at 8.30 p.m. (sharp), an illustrated lecture entitled ‘Morphology and Architecture of the Market Towns of County Roscommon’ will be given by Alan O’Connell.
The lecture will examine how the six market towns, comprising Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Castlerea, Elphin, Roscommon and Strokestown evolved, and how their development reflects the architectural movements in these islands.
