We’re SHAVING OUR HEADS and working as a community to build a new boat to bring groups of up to 8 people with disability TOGETHER on the Blueway on the River Shannon this summer.
For the very first time EVER, all 8 will independently travel onto the new vessel when the bow is lowered - to go fishing or sightseeing with 2 other guests or carers and a professionally trained crew on board. It’s the first P2 passenger vessel of its kind ever built in Ireland or UK.
10 volunteers will shave all their hair off on Monday June 1st including ALAN ‘The Yacht’ FARRELL, PHILIP ’Flash’ GORDON, RTE NEWS reporter CIARAN MULLOOLY, CHAIRMAN of Longford County Council GERALD FARRELL, JONATHAN ‘Strokestown’ CASSIDY, KEVIN 'Boxer' Moran , JAMIE 'Athlone' MORAN (hair dye only) ... and many more to be confirmed ... all supporting the Lough Ree ACCESS FOR ALL initiative.
We need MORE volunteers to shave with us - we’re collaborating with Waterways Ireland, Irish Wheelchair Association & Inland Fisheries Ireland with active engagement of Roscommon County Council; Department of Community & Rural Affairs - and the winners at the end of the day ? ACCESS FOR ALL on the BLUEWAY on our largest river.
