spring is springing!!

6/4/2020

Picture
Spring is really starting in the grounds of Strokestown Park House with lots of plants coming to life.

Out in the woods that mysterious chlorophyll-free plant Toothwort (Lathraea squamaria) has popped up ... it's so great seeing this back for another year.

Its'
Irish name is Slánú Fiacal and it stays above ground for only a very short period living on the roots of trees.

The Daffodils on the front meadow are looking really great this year ... it's always so great to see these return year after year, nearly always in full bloom for Easter.
