STEM in Strokestown -- will you help?

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) programmes have recently been running in Roscommon town, Ballaghaderreen, Boyle and Castlerea.

The aim is to have STEM running in each of the main towns in County Roscommon and Strokestown is the next to be supported.

The Programme Manager (Sean Fleming) is hoping to engage as many young Strokestown people as possible with STEM through volunteer-led sessions ... like in all the other mentioned towns volunteers are key to making this work for young people.

Elements of the STEM programme include: comic-book making, board-game development, computer coding, Lego, Legotronics, stop-motion animation, photography, film-making, makey makey computer inventing, sound surfers, darts club, robotics and electronics ... and much more!!

Volunteers will have to be vetted and will need to complete a mandatory induction and child protection training course. Full STEM-specific training will also be provided to volunteers to support them in running sessions.
