Strokestown Tidy Towns committee has been operating since the early 1960’s when the nationwide Tidy Towns competition was introduced.
Members meet weekly from Spring to Autumn undertaking enhancement works around the town.
The committee relies on occasional amenity grants and local fundraising to finance their activities.
They currently have workers on the TUS Scheme.
Many volunteers came on board to decorate a number of the most derelict premises in town. Connolly’s Corner and the Corner House were in the very heart of our town and were prioritised and revamped. Painters, Artists, Tradesmen and others came together to give a real face lift to a number of premises – enhancing the town for everybody into the future.
We aim to keep the town a more aesthetic place for all who live, visit or just pass through.
