For the first time ever Strokestown Park will run not one but two family friendly Halloween events to take place during the mid-term break.

On Saturday 28th of October Bake a Barmbrack is a family friendly baking workshop in which participants can mix the batter for their own barmbrack under the supervision of a professional chef.

While the barmbrack is in the oven there will be a tour of the galleried kitchen of Strokestown Park House. Participants can then tuck into a delicious hot buttered slice of their own homemade barmbrack, or take it home to share.

On Tuesday 31st of October at 4:30pm children of all ages are invited to come along in their finest costumes and with a lantern of their own, to take a guided walk through the grounds of Strokestown Park as dusk falls on all Hallows Eve. This promises to be a seasonally atmospheric twilight adventure, to get in the mood for the nights trick or treating.

The Lovely Girls Contest - Strokestown Style

​On Saturday the 28th of October at 8pm The Percy French Hotel in Strokestown will be transformed into the Rose Dome for the Lovely “Girls” Contest.

Strokestown Community Playground fundraising committee are taking a unique approach to the Rose of Tralee skit show, with Lovely “Girls” competing in knife edge time trials and competitions against one another to win the coveted title of “Loveliest Girl”.

The fun packed night will see LADies pitched against each other in death-defying trials such as:

• Hanging Out the Washing
• Sandwich & Tea Making
• Ironing the Clothes
• The Walk
• The Best Laugh

Inspired by the very entertaining TV series ‘Father Ted’, Strokestown’s take on the Lovely Girls contest promises to be side-splittingly funny and enjoyable for all.

The doors for this night of hilarious entertainment will open at 7.45pm with the comedy ensuing at 8.00pm. Tickets are €5.00 and you will have the opportunity to vote for your favourite contestant on the night, with each Euro equalling one vote!! All proceeds are to the benefit of Strokestown Community Playground, which is heading into phase 2 of its development.

Celebrating its 151st year, the Annual Strokestown Agricultural & Industrial Show is taking place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of September 2017.

Saturday's highlights include the €5,000 Sweeney Family Beef Bullock Championship, the €2,000 Greenvale Animal Feeds All-Ireland Beef Heifer Championship and the €10,000 Irish Angus All-Ireland Finals.

While Sunday hosts the Horse & Pony Show Classes, Driving Competitions and the spectacular Dog Show (2 rings).

Sunday is also our Family Day with our Little Miss and Master Competitions and Baby Show.  
Other highlights include Best Dressed Lady with the fabulous Katherine Lynch as judge and Glamorous Granny Competitions.

This year also sees the return of the highly successful Flavours from the Heart Ireland Food & Drinks Fair. Once again showcasing over both days, the wealth of culinary delights from the locality and further afield. this year it will include appearances from Celebrity Chefs Gary O'Hanlon and Neven Maguire to name but a few. With demonstrations and tastings from many of the exhibitors.
