Have you or are you considering on rescuing a puppy / dog ?

Join Laura's Canine Academy for a great opportunity to meet with people who are experienced in rescuing dogs. 

You can come along even if you’ve not yet taken the dog into your home.

Happening on Sunday, 23rd April 2023.

What’s included?

- bring your rescue. Great way to socialise your dog with no judgment or pressure.
- in hand advice for training and settling in your new pup / dog into your home.
- advice on how children should handle a new dog.
- meet like minded owners.
- half price voucher for a one to one.

- to counter media / scaremongering and show that it’s OK to adopt an animal into your home .

It’s the time of year to book the children into camps for Easter 🐣

Easter camps at Claire’s Arts and Crafts are returning with a bang!!

This year they will be running two camps -- one for 5 to 7 year olds and one for 8 to 12 year olds.

Activities that will be explored over Easter include:

- Lino printmaking
- Drawing technqiues with some unusual twists
- Clay
- Textiles
- Painting
- Sculpture

Know Your Locality
Know your Locality - Roscommon!

It is amazing what you can discover about your local area from the snug safety of your home.

Roscommon County Council Heritage Office is delighted to work with the Irish Archaeology Field School, to offer a FREE hybrid (online plus in person field trip) course that will take you step-by-step through the available online sources that will allow you to paint a picture of the geological, archaeological, and historical events that happened close to where you live.

While the course will look at examples from throughout Ireland, it will focus on the geology, archaeology and history of the county of Roscommon.

As such the course is aimed toward residents of Roscommon (who will be given preference for available course places) as well as enthusiasts of Roscommon’s natural and cultural heritage.

​PLEASE NOTE: You will need access to the internet and a device (preferably a laptop or PC).

📅Course Dates and Times: February 28, March 2, 7, 9 &14 (five two-hour sessions (6.30pm – 8.30pm GMT) and a fieldtrip on March 5th.

Strokestown Golf Club Junior Committee is fully committed to the development of Junior golf in Strokestown, and their remarkable committee are starting back with Junior Golf Lessons from Saturday 11th March 2023.

Starting your children with golf may be one of the best things you can do for them. There are so many children who can learn from the game on a physical, social and emotional level.

But the best benefit of all is that golf is lots of fun outdoors – away from mobile phones, video games, and other technology that consumes kids today.

Seed, Plant & Produce Swap
The Green Hub Gardening Club (GHGC) is holding a Seed, Plant & Produce Swap on Saturday, 11th March 2023 (from 11am - 1pm).

The Hub Café in Strokestown has kindly agreed to host this and are opening for refreshments.

GHGC hope this is the first of many open events to be held at The Hub Café.

The Green Hub Gardening Club and Strokestown Tidy Towns Group are working together to take advantage of our combined knowledge and experience. Bring along your spare seeds, plants and any home made products.

Hope to see you all there for a cuppa and a chat.

On Saturday, 4th March 2023 Ballybeg Development & Cemetery Committee are organising a clean up of Bumlin Cemetery.

This will be Phase 2 of the clearing.

As you can see, it's almost 20 years since the cemetery was fully cleared!
