Lunar Eclipse

27/7/2018

Picture
The Irish National Famine Museum at Strokestown Park has arranged a special programme on the evening of Friday, 27 July 2018 for the longest total eclipse of the moon in the 21st century!

At 8:30 pm, join astronomer Dr. James Hoban who will give a short lecture in the café about the moon, how it formed, its orbit around the earth, prominent features, why we see only one side, and plans to return to the moon.

Following the lecture, weather permitting, we will go outside for a short walk to view the moon rise in total eclipse! A telescope will give an up close look at the craters, mountains, and plains of the moon.

No charge. Bring binoculars if you have them.
