Plans for a large department store and business centre in Strokestown have been given a huge boost.
Conditional planning permission has been granted by Roscommon County Council for retention of some aspects of the building that were built without a grant of planning and permission for modifications.
The intention is for the building to be refurbished, with elements of the unit being divided into units for start-up businesses, while looking for a major retailer to occupy the remainder.
Beautiful and historic Strokestown, a focal point of Ireland's Hidden Heartlands, is perfectly situated halfway across Ireland:
* approximately 90 minutes from the hustle & bustle of Dublin (and Ireland's Ancient East) and Galway (on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way).
* just 40 minutes from Ireland West Airport in Knock.
